Located on Bureau of Land Management public lands northeast of Socorro, this 6,000-acre off-highway vehicle area offers sweeping desert terrain, rolling sand washes, sandstone bluffs, intersecting canyons, and panoramic views of the Rio Grande Valley.

Technical Route Requirements (Advanced Line)

For participants choosing the more difficult route options:

• Minimum 12 inches of ground clearance with full skid plate protection recommended,
  OR
• 15 inches of ground clearance without underbody protection

Drivers should be prepared to navigate “waterfall” style rock climbs up to 36 inches in height. These obstacles require careful line selection, proper spotting, and appropriate vehicle capability.

There will be easier routes and bypasses available for those who prefer a less technical experience.

Trail Difficulty

This run is rated:

• Mandatory Difficulty: 5/10
• Optional Advanced Obstacles: 7/10

The main route maintains a solid Level 5 rating, requiring high-clearance 4WD, proper recovery points, and driver awareness.

For those looking for an additional challenge, optional lines increase the rating to a Level 7, featuring more technical terrain including rock ledges and waterfall-style climbs.

Bypasses will be available for all advanced obstacles.

Preparation & Conditions

• Plan to be out all day.
• Bring at least 1 gallon of water per person
• This is a primitive desert area there are no restrooms available.
• Please bring a wag bag or other waste solution and follow Leave No Trace principles.
• Expect desert conditions: sun exposure, wind, dust, and uneven terrain.
